Publishing Software on Mac: Packaging, Signing, and Protecting 1-2-3

This is a guide to publishing software on Mac. After development of software that you intend to sell, you must package it acceptable to Apple and the OSX operating system, sign it so it passes GateKeeper, and protect it from softlifting/casual copying. This guide will demonstrate creating installers with Packages, getting an Apple Developers ID to sign your code, and provide tools to prevent software piracy through casual copying.
