Weeks after scientists vanished on an unexplored island in search of a mysterious giant lizard, Grayson McGregor led a search and rescue mission to find them. A treacherous landing sunk their boat, thus leaving them stranded, With no other recourse, they venture into the forest so thick that it swallows up anything that enters.

What they discover are animals the world hasn't seen for sixty-five-million years, which are intent on killing them. Making their dire situation even more perilous, earthquakes continue to shake the island, and the lakes and rivers strewn throughout the landscape have become acidic. Grayson believes the towering volcano -- Hell's Ridge -- is close to erupting.
