Historical Romance: Theatre of Lovers (Historical Romance) (New Adult Comedy Romance Short Stories)

When Sylvia, a young woman of marriageable age and considerable fortune, is promised to the son of an equally fine and wealthy family, she refuses to be sold to a man who is said to be half mad and ugly as sin. Impulsively, she runs away from her home in Essex, heading toward London where, under the rule of Good Queen Bess, the arts flourish and all men of determination can make their fortune.

She is not far from home when she realizes that a woman alone is a target for all manner of mischief, and so she makes the transformation which will change the course of her life- she dons men’s clothing and becomes Valentine whose love of the theater brings her into Christopher Marlowe’s circle of friends, a circle which includes actor, and would-be playwright, William Shakespeare, and a mysterious young man named Orlando.

Sylvia’s adventures in London are all she had hoped for and more. Though it is against the law, she goes on the stage to portray one of Marlowe’s characters. She inspires Will’s future writing, and in Orlando she inspires deep emotion as the young man falls passionately in love with her.

Disguise, confusion, and hidden identities all come into play for Sylvia and her artist friends, but will that play end well? Will it be comedy or tragedy?
