On the one hand there is Thomas. Handsome, reliable, and always serious. He’s been Lily’s fiancé for years while she waited patiently for him to return from the Crimean War. They were in love and promised each other a quick marriage upon his return.

On the other hand is Cade. Dashing, cunning, quick tongued and always charming. They’ve only just met, but he seems as taken with Lily as she is with him. If only she weren’t already spoken for and in love, he would have been the perfect suitor.
