The Long Road Back

Imagine a town with more churches than gas stations, a place with no traffic lights and damn few stop signs, a place where people wave even if you don’t. The people who live there have seen less change than their city cousins and are themselves less changed because of it. The blood of the old ones still flows strong in them, hot and close to the surface. They are quick to lend a hand and slow to anger and slower still to forget what a person has or hasn’t done.
