Workbook for Art Appreciation was created to engage students in drawing tasks, web quests, campus activities, and writing prompts instead of traditional lecture based format. The exercises skillfully reinforce the basic concepts in art theory and practice.

Workbook for Art Appreciation is divided into three sections: elements and principles, art media, and art history. Elements and principles are thoroughly explained with illustrations and web links to famous artwork. Drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and architecture are addressed with detail for students to understand the materials and the processes of each medium.

The workbook is full of references to artwork through out history. The art history section covers prehistoric art through Roman art. Each art history section cites wonderful resources from Kahn Academy, including readings, videos, and short interactive quizzes.
