In the early 1960s, the Boston area was gripped targeted by a Strangler; also known as the "Silk Stocking Murders", the Strangler was responsible for the murders of 13 women. The bulk of the victims were discovered with their nylon tights wrapped around their necks, and had been strangled. The age of the victims ranged from 19 to 85 years old, and they were all sexually assaulted.
Albert DeSalvo was already in prison for a series of unrelated sexual assaults when he confessed to being the Strangler; although the balance of probability points towards DeSalvo's guilt, many experts still express doubts as to the true identity of the Strangler.
The True Crime Shorts series is intended to give the reader a short, concise account of some of the most gruesome crimes in modern times. Each book provides the reader with the essential facts concerning a serial killer, along with analysis that tries to comprehend their motives; no distractions, just the essential facts, allowing the reader to master the case in the shortest time possible.
