Description

These Redwork /Hand embroidery quilt block designs are a derivative of a crib quilt design published in The Peterson's Magazine January 1889. They are recreated here in two sizes 4 inch and 8 inch. The pinhole stencil patterns can be easily traced with a quilters transfer pen but the instructions for transfering designs using the antique prick and pounce method are included.
Twenty Additional redwork blocks were added to allow for the making of a larger quilt. Although all the blocks were created from authentic Victorian redwork embroidery designs. A few slight changes were made. the crawling baby for example in the original it had its hands on something a tablecloth or perhaps a womans skirt. I changed that to blocks. The original family design did not have a father. so a second family design was created with a man borrowed from an 1889 Ivory soap advertisement.
