Is America past the Point of No Return?

Is it possible that America’s decline is irreversible? If it is, how do we know for sure? What if the Point Of No Return (PONR) is biblical- a specific point in a nation’s life that is measurable? What if the Bible makes it possible to know where America is in God’s balance between revival and judgment? In fact, it does.

Hidden in the Old Testament, and confirmed in the New Testament, is a pattern revealing the Life Cycle of Nations. It is based upon absolute principles that control the health or decline of a nation. These principles reveal not just the ‘what’ but also the ‘why’ behind the events and trends we are seeing. Why does God say revival is not possible after the Point of No Return and even rebuked one of the major prophets who was praying for revival? Why was idol worship so central in God’s judgment upon Israel and what are their modern equivalents in America? Why do 7 sequential marker sins reveal where a nation is at any one time and makes it possible to predict what is coming next and when the line is crossed?

Other books, such as the Harbinger, have examined specific portions of this cycle, but with this book we see the grand scheme of how God controls the flow of nations. When viewed at this level there is a new confidence of God’s sovereignty and where we as believers fit into His plan.

You will be shocked to see how relevant the Bible is to today’s headlines. Instead of a feeling that things are out of control, our culture’s decline will take on a new clarity and individual events will begin to finally make sense.

Finally, it is of paramount importance that we know where we are because the Bible’s job description for believers fundamentally changes after the Point of No Return. The OT prophets before the PONR were given one message and a radically different one after. Unless the Church adjusts to the new reality, it will experience disillusionment applying the old paradigms and will not be prepared to fulfill it’s new role and tasks in the coming phase.

From Prolog to the book:
Recently, I was asked to speak on Christian Activism in America at a state homeschool convention. I had put together a presentation but was still not comfortable with unresolved issues. My talk was Saturday afternoon, but when I went to the keynote lecture that morning, the lack of peace was stronger than ever. As I sat there praying about it, the Holy Spirit brought to my mind Jeremiah 4:14, a passage God had given me years ago in my homeschooling activism. But as I turned to it and read the verses, suddenly a flood of passages started to enter into my mind. A message outline quickly formed and I wrote down an outline sketch and as much of the thoughts as possible. After the keynote was over, I retreated to the speakers’ lounge and, with only about 90 minutes until my workshop, started putting it all together. Another speaker came in, and seeing what was going on, said, “Putting the final touches on your talk?” To which I replied “Not really”. He stopped, and said, “Oh, a total rewrite?” I nodded, and he added, “I’ve also had the Lord do that to me before, and it is both scary and exciting.”
Later, after the workshop was over, I had attendees come up and say that it had really ministered to them. They said they had been struggling with the same issues over the last few years, and this had really helped to get a new perspective as well as some encouragement. What follows here is that rewrite, and I present it praying God will use it for you as he did others that afternoon.
