DoD Support to Foreign Disaster Relief Handbook: In the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake response, DoD's after-action reviews and lessons observed from this large-scale, multi-agency effort identified an information gap among many military responders in the area of relief operations. This project was born from these efforts. This handbook is a useful tool to augment service member knowledge when deployed to these crisis situations. It offers an overarching guide and reference for military responders in disaster relief operations. It provides other government department and agencies and international partners, such as the United Nations, donor countries, regional organizations, and non-governmental organizations. This information is essential to a unified and coordinated response. This handbook addresses DOD’s response to natural disasters in permissive environments. While it is not intended for use in complex emergencies, this information may have utility for United States Government (USG) responses in complex emergencies. Chapters:
