This short, three volume series will make enough sense to satisfy you without the need for hard physics and mathematics.

We sneak up on time, quantum, and relativity, building our knowledge slowly, recognizing where things don't seem to make sense, seeing how researchers over time have explained conundrums and seeming impossibilities by testing and discarding and rebuilding ideas, and finally validating their theories experimentally, bit by bit until at least some of quantum has now begun to make sense.

Volume 1 The Universe is Made Up of Stuff introduces the beginnings of scientific inquiry into the makeup of the "stuff" of our universe. By the start of the 20th Century scientists had begun to realize that they knew less about this "stuff" than they thought they did.

Volume 2 The Universe Doesn t Make Any Sense introduces strange new ideas of matter and energy in Einstein s two Relativity theories, Heisenberg s notion that everything we can try to measure will always give us uncertain results, and that every solid thing we encounter is made up mostly of empty space.

Volume 3 The Theory of Everything introduces some of the current ideas that seek to explain in one grand, complete explanation what matter and energy are. You'll also understand why we aren't there yet.
