How about a juicy watermelon after a delicious meal of roast beef, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Enjoy the variety of fruit and food poems in this collection and you will be assured to be ravenous for these tasty delights. Watch out for the banana. It is known to bite. Be careful of the apple, and don't let your kids throw it about. Just let them crunch into it. You'll laugh hard and then you'll become obsessed like me to venture forth and enjoy the tasty food and fruit in this collection. Below is a short extract of how I ended up writing these silly verses:
I’m fascinated by food and fruit. Their diverse taste excites and tantalizes my taste buds. One day I was in a pub in England, eating roast beef and Yorkshire pudding when suddenly the thought came to me that I must write a poem about it. Another day, I bit into a peach, and I was struck with the sweet juice of its awesome flesh that I had to write about that fruit too. So the poems in this collection of ‘Food and Fruit’ became a passion.
The twenty-four poems in this selection encompass all kinds of food and all varieties of fruit but largely British food which I love so much.
Oh, I forgot, I must give a mention to the ‘Winchester Arms’ in England for giving me that much-needed inspiration after I had a delicious supper in their pub over a few beers. Oh, now I want to write about drinks. Oh dear!
Fred and Jack, you know who you are. It was hilarious when we went to that fish and chips shop three times in a row after we joked about my poem, ‘Fish and Chips.’
