The Division

What would happen if the government decided to round up citizens and put them in compounds to keep a better control over the people? This story is set in some future possibility, where this very thing happens. August, her family, her best friend’s family and a rebellious young half Sioux man travel on the train together, where they, along with all their neighbors are destined to a new kind of life. Desperate to escape the compound, and join his Indian family who had escaped to the wild land, Davekoi encourages August to help him. While she does not want to go with him, because she can’t leave her family, they are thrown together in a twist of fate, sometimes working together and against each other, as they struggle to conform to an existence neither of them want, and look to a future neither of them can be sure of.
