Famous Bengali Novel 'Charitraheen' written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. He was born on 15th September, 1876 in Debanandapur, Hooghly, West Bengal. He was a famous Bengali novelist and short story writer at that time. He belongs to a very poor family. He started his primary schooling in 'Pyari Pandit's' Patashala, after completion of primary study he took admission in Hooghly Branch high school. Although He started as an Arts student but left his studies due to his poverty. So he went to his maternal uncle's house in Bhagalpur and completed his rest of the studies from there. He spent almost 20 years in Bhagalpur so maximum of his novels were either written in Bhagalpur or based on his experience in Bhagalpur. In 1903 he went to Burma and got a job in Rangoon government office as a clerk. He submitted a short story into a story writing competition and won a first prize in Burma. That story got published 1904. This is the beginning of his career as a writer. Sarat Chandra was died on 16th January 1938. Charitrahin is that the genuine representation of the patriarchal society, wherever the women ar curbed everlastingly .
