In part one, Deidre had her heart broken by the man she had entrusted it with for three years. What hurt her the most was finding out that one of the women her fiancé had been sleeping with repeatedly, is the woman she had befriended. M.J. Carter slips his way into Deidre’s thoughts. When Michael Carter, Senior discovers that Deidre may present as a threat to his son’s future, he threatens her life. M.J. vows to protect her. He will marry Alexis and forget about Deidre.

A phone conversation leads him back to the East Coast. Deidre ends up in his arms when he learns of the secret she keeps. He vows to protect her by staying away, but he feels the need to be in her life. Will M.J. lead a double life? Will Deidre settle for being second to Alexis or will she accept her ex’s proposition to keep her safe from harm when he discovers who Michael Carter is and just what he is willing to do to protect his Empire.
