Penniless and heartbroken, Cynthia applies for a housekeeping job at a stately mansion in the English countryside. Intrigued by the beautiful manor, and strangely enamored by the handsome gentleman in several of the portraits hanging on the walls, Cynthia begins her new job to bring her life back in order.
While working, Cynthia uncovers a portrait of what appears to be her doppelganger. Cynthia finds herself torn from the world she knows, and transported somewhere she only barely recognizes. A stranger in an unknown world, Cynthia must navigate through the impossible situation she finds herself in, in order to get herself back home. Help comes unexpectedly, in the form of the handsome young gentleman from the portraits that Cynthia had admired so intently.
