Introduction of China's land and people

China has an extremely long history, with a correspondingly ancient society. Over the centuries this society has changed in a lot of ways, but there are some respects in which change has been much less dramatic, even during the last century of revolutions.

This book will explore this relationship between China's land and its people. An exploration of China's rivers, mountains, soils and coastlines comprises the first part, with the second part devoted to demographic analysis of China's people themselves -- their ethnic backgrounds, and their physical distribution.
