Al-Mizan fi Tafsir al-Qur'an: An Abridged Version

For Muslims, the Qur’an is the word of God and source of inspiration, preserved on a well-guarded tablet and revealed, through the angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad in 610 CE.
The Qur’an asserts it is a reaffirmation of and complementary to pervious scriptures, including the Old Testament and the Bible, and describes itself as enlightenment, guidance and mercy for mankind. It emphasizes the fact that it includes all that has been mentioned in the previous divine books, but insists that it has perfected these scriptures and, most importantly, abrogated their divine legal rulings.
