Richard "Ar/Gee" Gleim, ursprünglich Jazzmusiker, war in den späten 1970er Jahren als Fotograf mitten im Geschehen, als sich in Deutschland die Punk-Bewegung entwickelte.
In den Hochburgen des Punk - allen voran Düsseldorf - war Gleim mit seiner Kamera unterwegs und dokumentierte fasziniert alles, was optisch zu erfassen war.
Mit seiner 1982 auf der Documenta in Kassel gefeierten Publikation Guter Abzug erschien ein einzigartiges Werk, das den Geist dieser Zeit auf allen Ebenen erfasste:
Mit mehr als 100 Fotos, mit Fanzines aus dieser Epoche, Plakaten, Textsammlungen, Postern und einem Stars-on-45 -mäßigen Dance-Medley der größten Hits des deutschen Punk gilt Guter Abzug als einmaliges, weil niemals mehr wiederholtes Zeitdokument. Darüber hinaus waren Gleims Fotos nicht nur Bestandteil der legendären Ausstellung Zurück zum Beton im Juli 2002 in der Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, sie gehören inzwischen auch zum historischen Kanon, wenn von der wesentlichsten Kulturrevolution seit Dada die Rede ist.

Das E-Book Punk in Deutschland zeigt neben vielen Bildern aus dem längst vergriffenen Guten Abzug noch viele weitere, bislang unveröffentlichte Fotos der Punk-Bewegung. Das digitale Fotobuch macht nicht nur Richard Gleims großartige fotografische Zeitdokumente wieder zugänglich, sondern lässt durch die wuchtige Suggestivkraft der Bilder diese Zeit vor unseren Augen erstehen.

Richard "ar/gee" Gleim, originally a jazz musician, was right in the thick of things as a photographer in the late 1970s when the punk movement developed in Germany. Gleim was on the move with his camera in the strongholds of punk - with Düsseldorf in the forefront - and documented everything with great fascination that could be visually recorded.
With Guter Abzug (Good Print), which was received with acclaim on the Documenta trade fair in Kassel in 1982, he published a unique work that captured the spirit of this time on all levels. With more than 100 photos, fanzines from this era, placards, text collections, posters and a "Stars on 45"-like dance medley of the greatest German punk hits, Guter Abzug is considered to be a unique contemporary document because nothing like it was ever done again. Moreover, Gleim's photos were not only a part of the legendary exhibition Zurück zum Beton (Back to Concrete) held by the art museum Kunsthalle Düsseldorf in July 2002, they have since become part of the historic canon when it comes to the most crucial cultural revolution since Dada.

In addition to a large selection of pictures from the long since out-of-print Guter Abzug, the ebook Der Punk der frühen Jahre (The Early Years of Punk) contains many other, as yet unpublished, photos of the punk movement. The digital photo book not only includes Richard Gleim's exceptional contemporary photographic documents, but also resurrects this era before our eyes through the massive suggestive power of these pictures.
