Thoughts like those continued to spin around and around in his head. Making him crazy. Making it so that he couldn’t think of anything else. It was affecting his work, his sleep, his life. His sanity! Why had she up and left in the middle of the night? Gone before he could ask her that one burning question. The answer to which could alter his life.

In just a couple of days, he and Torrent were meeting with all of the leaders of the non-humans. They were going to discuss the Slayers. Right now the Hunters were targeting the dragons, but who of the species would be next? Something needed to be done. A collective effort needed to be made. He should be strategizing. Learning all there was to know of his new role. Yet, here he was, agonizing over what he would say when he saw her next.
