Engagement Interrupted: A Pride and Prejudice Variation

Bennet forces Lizzy to be engaged to his heir, never having met him. She is currently under her father’s control, only being 19 years old. This decision is planned and supported by both mother and sister Jane. Jane is very hateful to Lizzy. Jane feels that she deserves the best because she is beautiful. She has become jealous of her sister when she noticed that Lizzy was getting more attention from her father and the men of the community. Lizzy becomes despondent due to forced engagement and behavior of her family. Aunt and Uncle Gardiner intervene and take her on trip to Ramsgate. There she meets Georgiana Darcy where she interrupts George Wickham as he approaches Georgiana. The girls become good friends. They decided to help each other with their problems. Due to the actions of her untrustworthy companion, Georgie stays with Gardiners until her guardian Richard Fitzwilliam arrives. Richard offers to save Lizzy by sending both girls to the Darcy estate in Ireland. This would allow Georgie protection from Wickham and Lizzy a place to stay until she reaches her majority. Richard moves them when Fitzwilliam Darcy is away on business. Wickham arrives in Ireland intent on capturing his bride and becoming a brother to Darcy. Lizzy and the staff must intervene to save Georgie. Will Wickham elope with Georgie? What happens when Darcy arrives? He is extremely upset that an unknown person has taken his sister out of England for many months. Will they come to an understanding? What will happen when Lizzy does not appear for her own wedding?
