I'm Deputy Stephanie Hanson, and I've never been good at listening when other people tell me what to do.
"Stay away from Jason Wulf," they told me, for example. "He's hiding something."
No, I didn't listen - and that's how I'd ended up letting Jason Wulf bend me over the hood of my patrol car last night, and drive me to heights of pleasure I'd never experienced before.
But now the floodgates are open - the unspoken attraction we've shared for the last twelve months has become real.
Now, I have questions.
Who is this towering, tattooed, brooding biker? What's he doing in our little town of Ruth, Colorado? And could he really be interested in me? A single, small-town Deputy who turned the whole town against her?

I've done two things in my life I'm proud of: I served my country with a distinction as a sniper in the US Rangers, and then I rode the highways and byways of America as a member of the legendary vigilante biker gang, The Knuckleheads.
But that's all the past.
After one last job in Mexico, the Knuckleheads disbanded - and I went to ground in the only place I knew to go. For the last twelve months, I've lived like a hermit, here in the sleepy town of Ruth, Colorado.
It's a lonely way to live. No purpose. No pleasure. Nothing but twisting a wrench to make a living, with nobody but my dog Boomer to keep me company.
The only highlight of my life? When Deputy Stephanie Hanson makes her nightly stop at my auto shop, as part of her patrol route.
She's as lonely as I am - a beautiful, smart, tough-as-nails girl who sacrificed it all to follow her dream of becoming a law officer.
For a year, I thought my attraction to her was one-sided - until one kiss turned into a whole lot more, and we shared a night of passion that reignited everything I'd forgotten life was worth living for.
For a moment, I even thought there might be a place for me in Ruth Township after all.
A place with her.
But then the past I thought I'd left behind me came catching up - and suddenly, Stephanie and I are left fighting for our lives.
I don't see how she and I are going to make it out of this alive - but I'll tell you one thing:
