There's the panorama of a lot of people struggling to scale the ladder of financial independence and failing, not actually because the odds are against their rise but because they lack the knowledge and will to progress against all tangible and intangible oppositions. To the best of my knowledge, this inability is one of the many fallouts of growing up with the thought that success can and should only be reached with academic credentials and standard employment. Though it's rarely thought of, but everyone grows up and struggles with this incongruous impression. That's why those who have neither academic credentials nor standard employment are always thought of as underprivileged and are always expected to be financially dependent.
