In steps, the "expert" in the form of Nick Knowles transforms the chosen place, together with his colour-co-ordinated "team" - "Bob the Builder", "Brigid the Designer", "Ian the Plasterer", and "Billy the Electrician". The book focuses on the specific case studies featured in the programme, but also includes DIY hints and tips on basic household maintenance, and additional projects for every room in the house. The book is divided into 5 sections: repairs, maintenance, plumbing, electrics and woodwork.
