The Surgical Education and Self-Assessment Program (SESAP®) has been a premier educational resource for practicing surgeons since 1971, and is developed by the American College of Surgeons Division of Education to promote excellence in surgery through acquisition and application of evidence-based surgical knowledge. SESAP offers you problem-based multiple-choice questions and evidence-based explanations of answers, as well as supporting references from current literature. Questions cover all 15 major content areas of general surgery, consistent with the topics covered by American Board of Surgery examinations. SESAP also includes a unique self-assessment and cognitive skills acquisition model designed to help you assess and maintain your clinical knowledge. The SESAP Sampler®, an online resource, presents five new questions monthly. These previously unpublished questions are developed with the same rigorous peer-review process used for SESAP. We encourage you to use these programs to keep current with established surgical practices, prepare for high-stakes examinations, or to fulfill Maintenance of Certification Part 2 requirements.
