The book is an introductory computer course that begins with a discussion of Turing Machines, machine and assembly languages, number representation and elementary programming.This is followed by data structures, I/O, and algorithms for searching and sorting. It is intended for teaching a one semester course on machine language programming and data structures. The DEC PDP-11 and IBM System/360-370 are used in examples. The Appendix includes an explanation of the ALGOL-like programming notation and a bibliography. There are indexes of the PDF and IBM instructions and a subject index.
