Finite Element Methods in Structural Mechanics: With Pascal Programs (Ellis Horwood Series in Mechanical Engineering)

This book emphasizes important didactic aspects of teaching the finite element method. It assumes no previous knowledge of numerical methods or finite elements, although it does assume some knowledge of the fundamentals of linear structural mechanics. It includes worked examples and homework assignments, and provides a fully documented computer code to illustrate the basic aspects of finite element program development using Pascal. Another unique feature is the discussion, in an elementary manner, of the whole variety of current issues of finite element analysis.

Michal Kleiber is Professor of Applied and Computational Mechanics at the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Warsaw. He has authored and co-authored more than 100 articles in the areas of finite element methods, structural mechanics and constitutive modelling in finite strain elasto-plasticity.
