Legend is a dystopian novel written specifically for young adults by bestselling author Marie Lu. This is the first book of a trilogy and is followed by two equally riveting reads, Prodigy and Champion.

Fifteen - year - old Day is the most - wanted criminal of the Republic in an attempt to rid his family of a plague, he breaks into a hospital in Los Angeles and murders a military captain, Metias Iparis, as he struggles to take away his special pendant. Now, June Iparis, younger sister of Metias and a prodigy at 15 years, has been handed over the responsibility of capturing Day.

Though at first the task seems not so difficult for the young prodigy, things do turn complicated when June, who is dressed as a girl from the slums in this mission and Day find themselves falling in love with each other. The rest of the novel explores how will June keep her duty above her passion and hand over Day to the authorities for the murder he has supposedly committed and what other twists in the tale will readers find out in this riveting read.
