This title provides an introduction for students to the sociology of health and illness. It shows how health and illness are affected by the social, cultural, economic and political features of society. It should also help students to develop a critical sociological imagination, by introducing key sociological concepts and theories, and by showing how sociological analysis can be applied to the study of health and illness.
