This volume provides an overview of Indian Agriculture comprehensively covering the diverse issues ranging from environment to culture and dealing with contemporary issues on poverty and subsidies. The contributors evaluate the state of Indian agriculture in relation with: state and central economic policies and their impact on the economic and societal environment.
It discusses the green revolution and its limited impact on productivity and environment which was restricted to certain agro-climatic zones. The volume discusses in detail the challenging tasks ahead for Indian agriculture to achieve food security at the individual level and not only at national level.
