Meanwhile, a talented surgeon is visited in his clinic by a beautiful cabaret singer who has a heart in a shockingly grotesque condition. Jealous of her, the surgeon's lover has threatened to kill him in the midst of all this danger and mystery, the surgeon's neighbour is an even more mysterious character living in an old residence, which is home to tools and objects used for human torture. Many such other mysterious short situations involving children and mothers, mourners and murderers and innocent bystanders make the book an intriguing web of characters, mystery and macabre.
