Under the Durian Tree

Tim O'Hagan is old and dying. Trapped in a body that barely functions, he begins the process of letting go, reliving his life as a colonialist in Malaya between the two world wars. His reminiscence takes him from middle-class Irish Catholic roots through to his grim survival as a Japanese POW.
