Reaching Children Through Dialogue

This work outlines the concept of "community diagnosis related to child development". Based partly on their own experience in relief work in Ethiopia, Elizabeth and Pal Jareg helped to develop this planning tool for reaching children within community development schemes, which should be of interest to caregivers throughout the world. Acquiring information about communities and carrying on dialogues with children are the basis for this concept, which achieves insight into the plight of distressed children and can form the basis for child-centred activities. The emphasis is on making a full community diagnosis with special concern for child development, through workshops and with reference to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
