Endocrine Function and Aging

This volume presents the most recent findings concerning age-related changes in hormone secretion and action. It applies these findings to the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine dysfunction in the elderly. Major sections explore diabetes and carbohydrate metabolism; maintenance of bone structure, with particular attention to osteoporosis; physiological changes in male and female reproductive systems, including psychological aspects of sexual changes; treatment of hypertension in the elderly, including studies charting the effect of diet on this condition; and adaptation to stress in the elderly.
