This collection offers a survey of the directions Swift criticism has moved in the 20th century, summarizing the main trends and movements and showing where major critics of, and books on Swift fit in. It is a guide to Swift scholarship, its approaches and assumptions, for the non-expert. The variety of criticism taken by the contributors, including several postmodern essays, is mirrored in the diversity of the contributors themselves - from England, Northern Ireland, Canada, Australia, and the USA.
