Polyamines are a group of substances essential for the growth of cells. Their metabolism is deregulated in transformed cells, and polyamines themselves play critical roles in neoplastic transformation. The scientific knowledge obtained in basic studies of polyamines is being actively translated into the area of cancer biomarker and treatment studies.
