Silkie

Scientists set out to create the next step in human evolution, and succeed beyond their wildest dreams. The Silkies are beings equally at home in space, on land, or under water. They can think like a computer, communicate etherically, and change form to suit their purposes. Are the Silkies all that is claimed for them? Are they truly mankind's helpers and heirs? Or are they "ringers" from some unknown outer-space world or some anti-humanity conspiracy?
