Easter Oratorio in Full Score (Dover Music Scores)

Thought to have been written in 1736 for the Easter festival at Leipzig, Bach's Easter Oratorio differs from his other two oratorios in that it lacks a scriptural narrative and it was twice revised by the composer. This edition of the complete score is a reproduction of the authoritative Bach-Gesellschaft edition, in which the vocal parts of the third version of the oratorio were collated with the score of the first revision in an attempt to discover Bach's final intentions. Convenient and inexpensive, this volume features instrumentation and a new English translation of text by Stanley Appelbaum.
