Gene Discovery Lab

This project is intended for any course or lab which covers molecular biology techniques or topics, including courses or labs in molecular biology, genetics, biotechnology, developmental biology, neurobiology, immunology and microbiology. The molecular techniques CD/Web site is intended to provide a virtual lab environment for exploring concepts by simulating molecular techniques. It is intended to either augment or replace a molecular lab course. The simulations should allow students to conduct experiments that they couldn't perform otherwise, due to time constraints (some labs require many hours or days for incubation periods, an unrealistic time frame for undergraduate students), replication constraints (some labs must be repeated many times to demonstrate fundamental concepts), and facilities shortages (some equipment in the simulations is very expensive).
