The unbelievable empathy Sarah was capable of feeling for the few people she loved had a tragic downside to it. In spite of the vast powers, tapped and as yet untapped, which resided within her, she was a dangerous "Elemental". Sarah seldom showed any patience with the "Big Picture". Try and point out the concepts of compassion and understanding to her and she would usually ask: "So what's your point? " In the majority of instances, she never forgave nor did she forget. To wrong a Loved One of Sarah Stern Hunter was to invite a Vengeance of unbelievable horror on the perpetrator. Even worse, her Vengeance was fully capable of extending beyond the grave itself. The "Quality of Mercy", how ever strained, gave Sarah heartburn. She had felt my emotional anguish on hearing of my eldest daughter's death and now she was reacting in the only manner she felt was appropriate. Sarah and I, father and daughter, alien entities not of this earth but bonded by a love past human understanding.
