Emergence

We have two psychological drives: a drive to protect ourselves and a drive to express ourselves. Our drive to protect ourselves makes us want to withdraw, build up our resources and live from behind our defences. Our drive to express ourselves makes us want to make the most of our lives, risking failure and rejection in order to succeed. Emergence is about learning to contain the drive to protect ourselves so that we can lead powerful lives taking full advantage of our every opportunity.
