Fundamental Aerodynamics A Different View

This book describes recent research in aerodynamics, much of it previously unpublished. The goal of the research is to find new explanations for old problems. To stimulate creativity, conventional building blocks (for example boundary layer concepts) were excluded as a way of explaining phenomena in the hope that new explanations, and knowledge, might be discovered. Using this approach to stimulate creativity, new explanations for some long standing aerodynamic problems were discovered. These are described in the book. The goal of much of the research is to get sufficient understanding of phenomena to enable new, and more effective, concepts and flow control strategies to be developed. As a consequence most of the Chapters contain comments on control strategies as well as directions for future research.
