Electrical and Magnetic Properties of Materials

Written for students taking BTEC HNC and HND courses in electrical and electronic engineering, this book introduces the electric and magnetic properties of materials. It ranges from the basic concepts of atomic structure to the electrical properties of metals, semiconductors and insulators. In between, the author considers the mechanisms of dialectrics, magnetic materials and the electrical properties of metals. Each chapter includes applications of the principles to electronic devices, worked examples and problems for the reader to tackle. The book provides answers to all the problems. A knowledge of the basic principles of calculus and algebra has been assumed, although only a very basic understanding of physical science and electrical principles is required.
