As a new mom, I spent a lot of time stressing out over how to raise my children for Christ. Many of my wilder friends from my pre-Christian days were raised in Christian homes and determined to not live for God because of their strict upbringings. This cost me sleep as a new mom, because it was the opposite effect that I wanted to achieve. I wanted kids who loved God with everything in them. How is this achieved? How can I raise children that walk with God? I really didn’t know. Parenting trends come and go. Standards vary from household to household and church to church. Our child-rearing cannot be only about rearing children that outwardly comply to a set of man-made behavioral constraints, but rather rearing children who walk with the Lord and seek Him for wisdom.
