Davis Farmers Market Cookbook Tasting California's Small Farms

Winner of 2012 National Indie Excellence Book Awards and Writer's Digest 2012 Contest for Self-Published books. The book contains over 85 recipes, arranged seasonally, featuring produce available from the farmers market, and is lushly illustrated with photos of the finished dishes, farmers, and the market. Each chapter also includes several preserving or pickling recipes, such as Fall Chutney, Apricot Jam, and Homemade Ketchup. In addition to the seasonal recipes, there is a Basic Recipe section that contains 8 recipes with seasonal adaptations for each. Both authors have a long history with the market, named America's favorite by the American Land Trust in 2010. Ann M. Evans, co-author, was the co-founder of the market, and as mayor of Davis, oversaw the building of the permanent structure of the market. Georgeanne Brennan, co-author and James Beard and Julia Child award winner, once furnished seeds to many of the pioneer vendors through her seed company, Le Marche Seeds.
