Traveler and author Thom Tansey sets out on a road journey to discover America through its small towns, chatting with people along the way, learning about them and their towns. He encounters a beekeeper, a tattoo artist, a butterfly farmer, a sea-turtle hospital founder, a conch researcher, an apple grower, a migrant laborer, a goat herder, a miniature-donkey rancher, a produce stand owner, an airboat pilot, a master potter, among many others, all of whom discuss their stories in detail. Thom also learns about the towns themselves from knowledgable people living in them. Some towns are economically depressed due to the weak national and global economies. Other towns are thriving despite those economies. Thom takes the reader along to learn and experience with him the small towns and their people.
