Description
This book is essentially a work based on the interviews I held with poets Joya Mitra, Ranadeb Dasgupta, and Suddhasatya Ghosh, along with a few of their translated poems. I have tried my best to keep their words as unchanged as possible, for the deliveries carry the actual essence of the bard’s existence. Although I started my writing career as a journalist I didn’t alter much of the language simply because what I feel is irrelevant might well prove to be important to some readers. I have preferred not to be judgmental about the views expressed by my poets. Those are their views and visions, which I respect. This does not necessarily mean that I abide by their opinions. I have worked on their poems by translating them into English. It took much time to translate the contributions contained within this book. I have had several correspondences, which have specifically involved the poets, in order to properly edit the words, and expressions of the translated poems. I wanted to keep the translations as genuine as the Bengali originals. This book is indeed a comprehensive work. All of the poets included have shown serious dedication and involvement with the development of this book. Accommodating the different time-frames of the contributors was a difficult task, but at the end of all, if my readers enjoy the work, I’ll consider my effort worthy. ~ Kiriti Sengupta
