Dare To Be King: What If the Prince Lives? A Survival Workbook for African American Males

The Dare To Be King curriculum was developed to be implemented in schools and communities to address issues related to anger and violence among adolescent males. The curriculum's purpose is to assist adolescent males to develop resiliency, manage anger, and social skills, and thus empowering them to make positive choices and reduce their risk for violence and criminality. The curriculum offers 52 weeks of life & survival skills training for adolescent males. The curriculum's unique design ensures that schools, faith-based groups, and other community-based organizations that work with males have an instrument that focuses on the cultural and environmental issues specific to adolescent males. The curriculum is a tool to engage adolescent males around issues related to life & survival skills. The curriculum is specifically designed for middle and high school age young males who often become victims and perpetrators of school and community violence. The curriculum sessions help youth develop the emotional literacy skills to understand realistic alternatives to violence and to respond effectively to aggression.
