Foster SAT: The Concise Guide to the SAT
Book Details
Description
I prefer to keep learning simple. Every SAT® question, just like every academic problem, can be approached in a straightforward way. This basic idea is the foundation of Foster SAT and of all of my teaching.
To make sure I know everything that is tested on the SAT® and the best approach to each problem, I have registered through College Board and taken the test myself six times in the past four years. As an adult, I sat in a room with high school students and took the SAT®. My scores in the order of test dates have been: 2320, 2400, 2400, 2370, 2400, 2380.
The scores that were not 2400 were actually more important to my teaching than the 2400 scores. Each time I took the test, I knew everything I needed to answer every question correctly. However, on three of the tests I failed to reach my full potential. Each unnecessarily missed question gave me insight into the reasons why many students lose points on questions that they were fully capable of answering correctly. I learned that having the basic knowledge is only the first step. It must be followed up with logical reasoning, intensive practice, and flawless implementation.
The contents of this book are based solely on my collection of 20 real SAT® tests from the past seven years. All of the materials I have included (from the grammar rules, to the math concepts, to the vocabulary) have appeared on previously administered College Board SAT® tests. The more you study, review, and practice, the higher you will score when you take the SAT®.
