Let The Patriots Stand Up

Mosibudi Mangena was President of the Azanian People’s Organisation (AZAPO) from 1994 to 2010. This collection of speeches covers the sixteen years that he was in this position. The speeches are a commentary on political developments in a South Africa emerging from many centuries of strife, at least from his vantage point as the leader of AZAPO. The difficult issues that AZAPO and South Africa grappled with during the period the speeches were delivered are still there, some of them have in fact worsened. Mosibudi Mangena was a member of parliament, a deputy minister of education and a minister of science and technology. He is a member of the board of the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (Mistra), a Fellow of the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (Stias) and a member of the Human Resource Development Council of South Africa (HRDC). “I found the speeches extremely interesting and of historic value, mirroring as they did, the times against which they were set.
